Project Worldwide
Like the name suggests, the open office has been both celebrated and maligned for its cavernous appearance. High ceilings are desirable in homes and places of worship, but in the workplace that sense of verticality can make the office feel like a warehouse.

STUDIOS
For a creative agency’s 30,000 square foot Manhattan space, STUDIOS’ interiors team were able to emphasize the length of the office and add an element of warmth to its corporate appearance through two clever interventions. First, the team chose the color black for the walls and ceiling of the lobby, using a dark color to visually constrict space.
Next, they installed B+N Industries’ Fortina louvers along certain portions of the ceiling. The team arranged some of the louvers longways to create a sense of depth, while others were positioned in a horizontal manner to demarcate discrete areas within the wider office. The louvers were dropped a few feet from the ceiling, further visually compacting the lobby. An oak finish on the louvers matches the reception area’s desks, as well as the office coffee bar.
