Esquire House LA
What goes into making the ultimate bachelor pad? While there’s no accounting for taste, the pad isn’t complete without the latest technology, highest-end materials, luxury fittings, and on-trend furnishings and color. At least that’s what the 14 designers who were invited to design Esquire Magazine’s 2007 Ultimate Bachelor Pad in the Hollywood Hills asserted through their visions and specifications.
In the pad’s guest bedroom, L.A.-based interior designer Annette English softened the overall masculine aesthetic and went instead with a universally appealing refined biophilia theme. She added a cheerful yellow wall behind the headboard and a delicate sculpture made of 204 dangling glass bulbs to hang in front of it. English also affixed B+N Industries’ Iconic Panels to the room’s entryway walls. To further bring the outdoors in, English chose the Helsinki pattern for the Panels, which resembles thin birchwood branches. She also used birchwood for the table lamps and specified a floor lamp that looked like a gnarled bough. B+N’s Iconic Panels were used in three more Esquire Ultimate Bachelor Pad projects, and the houses resulted in long-standing partnerships between B+N and several prominent interior designers.
